The wine is produced from grapes grown in the vitis vinifera sativa, which is the scientific name of so-called noble grapes. The traditional grape of Chile is the grape of the country, which was brought by the conquest of Spain, and is still the most commonly grown strain in Chile. It is characterized by its productivity and because red wines suitable for simple, rustic, not for export.
This strain is found throughout America in different versions (in Argentina is called Creole, California Mission). Today in Chile also grow grapes in the country other strains for the production of wine, known internationally and who are in the top ranks of global preference: Chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon cabernet reserve o merlot. In other strains bind them more rare, as the Carmenere wine and Syrah wine, which has hardly grown in Europe, and offer a very individual and characteristic flavor. Moreover, Chile is unusual in the assembly of wines, which is a mixture of different strains, however in recent times is increasingly experimenting in this field.
Cabernet Sauvignon
This strain of red wine comes from France (Bordeaux) and embarked on a triumphal path worldwide. From Italy via California to Australia this grape is used for the production of excellent red wines. In Chile, the cabernet has been cultivated for about 150 years and grows on vines with their real estate.
Warm weather, low productivity and well-ripened grapes are an excellent raw material for the winemakers. This strain gives rise to fruity wines, concentrated and with a high concentration of tannins. The smell of this wine is marked by the black currant, Chilean strains also possess a characteristic aroma of eucalyptus.
The Carmenere is a grape variety that is considered originated in France.
Carménère
The strain Carmenère is the trademark of Chilean wines. The strain originally from the Medoc region of France, but the species was wiped out by phylloxera in Europe in the nineteenth century. However, in the year 1994 a French winemaker in Chile discovered authentic copies of this strain, but until then had been regarded as merlot. Since then Carménère occurs in vineyards south of Santiago at high level. Its features are bright red with an aroma of berries, is also fruity and intense. The concentration of tannins is not as high as in the cabernet sauvignon, this makes the cabernet carmenere wine is transformed into a lighter, you feel good. Finally we recommend drinking it young.
Carmenere Syrah
Syrah is a wine strain but not very productive, it is of high quality. From the Rhone Valley in France today is grown principally in Australia, where it is called shiraz. Originally considered a low-quality grapes now, however, belongs to the noble strains. The development of syrah is complicated, because the vines can not stand little sun, nor much. Therefore the number of vineyards in France fell sharply, although these wines are considered by connoisseurs as one of the best in the world when their grapes reach perfect maturation. The southern hemisphere, with its climate more stable, provide better conditions for the cultivation of this strain. With respect to its qualities, the wine syrah has a dark color and a high concentration of tannins, the aroma of red currant is intense. On aging, we recommend a long maturation in the bottle.
Syra Pinot Noir
Also known as Pinot Noir or Blauburgunder, this pinot grape is one of the most famous in the dark noble varieties from the French region of Burgundy. This thin-skinned grape that owes its name to the cone shape that grows on the vine, reacts extremely sensitive to temperature variations, soil types, pruning, the way grows, so the strain is considered more "capricious" in the world. Due to these reasons there is rather little Pinot Noir in Chile, despite the strain like the sun warm and thin limestone soil and good permeability, conditions typical of the central valley of Chile. Under the best conditions, the pinot noir wines leads to very harmonic, velvety, smooth, with a fascinating aroma of fruit and a low concentration of tannins.
